As the organization’s business model changed from
print directory publisher to management of an online destination site and
industrial website services, the current IT assets, including the Sales Tools in
use by a sales force of approximately 350 independent contractors across 50
territories in the continental USA and Canada, had become increasingly
constrained by an inflexible and obsolete application architecture and design.
Changes made to the system to support changing business practices were proving
to be expensive, risk prone and faced the challenge of reconciling the sale of
online services with legacy data structures that supported a print business
model, thus leading to the decision for its replacement.
