The client, East Valley Water District, is a county district formed in 1954 through an election by local residents who wanted water service funded by a public agency.
Challenge
The client was originally collecting data from multiple sources, including a combination of third party software, Microsoft Excel and other web platforms. The client used spreadsheets when a third party application was not available or if a significant amount of manual data transformation was required for an export.
Solution
We developed a data warehouse leveraging Microsoft Azure Analysis Services and Azure Data Factory. Using Azure Data Factory to connect to various sources and migrate data, the warehouse then analyzes data with the Analysis Services to generate analytical reports. The reports are fed to Power BI, thus enabling users to view them as interactive dashboards in real-time.
Results
With the solution we implemented, the client can monitor various operational aspects from a single, unified view. Therefore, the client can identify issues and take immediate action to resolve. The client can now track and manage live data with an interactive dashboard, which also allows for social media analysis that can provide insights into client perceptions.
