Health and wellbeing is a critical value for our employees and within our communities where we live and work. Below is a sample of our recent Health & Wellness initiatives.
Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Drives in India & 24/7 support
Orion responded quickly to the second wave of the COVID-19 crisis throughout India. We set up an Employee Crisis Relief fund, a website for employees to check in and access 24/7 support, provided in-home care for those severely impacted, and organized vaccination drives for our employees and their families across our locations in India. Giving back to a major NYC hospital network during the pandemic. During the height of the pandemic in 2020, our engineers worked tirelessly to support a NYC hospital network with technology to keep patients connected virtually with families. The hospital network needed to configure hundreds of iPads that were to be distributed to their facilities so that patients could visit with their families virtually. This was not only crucial for patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19, but also for the patients at the hospital’s Post-Acute Care facilities who could not receive family visits. We put together a team of engineers who were able to start immediately to help aid this initiative, and worked around the clock, through the weekend, until the devices were configured. We share these stories to inspire our employees, and continue to encourage volunteering and community involvement.
Fundraising for Cancer Research. Over the last decade, Orion has raised money and awareness for cancer research with a charity golf outing. At our last golf outing in 2017, over 280 golfers from 65 technology companies came together, along with the Executive Golf Committee and over 25 volunteers. This event raised awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, with donations totaling over $500,000 in 2017 alone. Orion is hopeful that these donations will continue to fuel research that leads to more effective diagnosis, treatment options, prevention methods and detection of cancer, as well as increase patient access to clinical trials and cutting-edge cancer research.
