The client is a major development bank with a lineage traced back to helping refugees after World War II and disaster victims. They provide loans to EU states and businesses and hold assets over 25 billion euros.
Challenge
The client was using Temenos R17 release and was looking to upgrade to R20. The imperative for these core banking system upgrades came from the challenges associated with maintaining local code, being unable to focus on core banking tasks, and experiencing difficulties in executing future upgrades. These obstacles impeded efforts to enhance efficiency, maintain agility, and remain aligned with industry standards.
Solution
As the certified Temenos upgrade partner, Orion was selected to facilitate the upgrade process. Our team began by conducting an upgrade assessment that involved determining the project’s scope and planning. The team also conducted code screening, conversion, deployment, versioning, and more throughout the entire process.
Our team worked closely with Temenos’ support organization and the client for System Integration Testing, UAT, deployment, and post-deployment. Despite the onset of a global pandemic, our team delivered the upgrade and assisted the bank with AA implementation and migration from LD to AA module.
Impact
The upgrade was completed fast with zero critical defects in just 4 months. The new system empowered the bank to operate with industry-standard best practices, streamlining operational efficiencies and augmenting Return on Investment (ROI).
