Innovative solutions often have multiple use cases, but finding the applications can sometimes be tricky. Our team helped this major telecom company find new business cases and content applications for their 5G-enabled managed tablet system. The client is a leading global telecom company with a revenue number exceeding $100B. They partnered with a software company and a leading golf brand to develop a 5G-enabled tablet solution tailored for golfers. This innovative offering delivers curated content and enhanced experiences on the course, featuring streaming music, videos, course information, GPS, and more. Challenge Seeing the success of the golf use case, the client faced the challenge of identifying and prioritizing additional opportunities for its managed tablet solution across various industries and user scenarios. It was determined that there was potential to create customized applications and tailored content to meet varying needs in other industries, based on the screening criteria established by the client. Solution Orion’s Experience Design (XD) team was contracted to evaluate new segments for the client. Our team spearheaded the initiative by engaging client stakeholders to define criteria for potential use cases. Through workshops and market assessments, the team found considering market size and sub-segments. The research was then used to develop several conceptual designs and mock-ups tailored to specific user needs that were then tested with the potential end users. Impact The research findings empowered the client to build a compelling business case, securing investments required to productize variations of the managed tablet solution to address the specific requirements of each targeted segment. The client was able to leverage their initial investment in creating the managed tablet platform into a portfolio of offerings to deliver sustained growth and innovation in diverse market segments.
