The client is an industry leading fintech investment platform that empowers advisors and small firms to work with client investors by providing tools and educational content for meeting their financial wellness goals.


The client brought in Orion to reimagine advisor journeys, deliver engaging digital experiences and modernize the custody platform. This initiative would complement product development efforts for the client’s advisor portal and custody platform. There were two primary goals.

The client wanted to create a comprehensive platform for financial wellness that saves advisors time, facilitates conversations and supports customized service to investors across the wealth spectrum. They also wanted to build a compelling, data-driven Advisor/Investor digital wealth management experience that was reliable, scalable, and fast. 


The client’s advisor platform technology was dated and slow with an old-style website and static pages to manage portfolios and interact with advisors. Orion had to meet extremely tight deadlines and deliver a Digital Transformation roadmap in 16 weeks.

Additionally, the solution had to merge all the front-end capabilities into the advisor platform brand with a total redesign and a new user experience. The solution team needed to be extremely nimble as priorities shifted many times. Finally, the solution had to support 24-hour processing.


Orion delivered a Digital Experience-Driven Platform within the client’s requirements. Orion went through multiple streams of exploration, workshopping, concepting, and production running simultaneously to identify the interconnected impact of all decisions across established segments of the reimagined digital experience. The approach included:

  • foundational design system to generate wireframes, low and high-fidelity designs,
  • rapid prototyping to incrementally drive Digital product strategy and roadmap,
  • fully formed team comprised of researchers, designers, and full-stack engineers,
  • lean and fast-paced UX and product development,
  • closed-loop validation with user groups.


The Orion solution resulted in improved stability, enables real-time processing, increased scalability, strengthened controls and improved the customer experience. The client now has a:

  • new modern platform with a scalable and flexible architecture,
  • compelling and intuitive experience that aligns with their defined advisor and investor journeys,
  • data model and analytics to support data-driven user experiences.
