An Ivy League university improved grant management by consolidating unstructured data. Orion created a secure data warehouse with dashboards, reducing reporting time and enabling predictive insights.
An Ivy league university in New York gained actionable insights from various data sources in a few clicks.
Challenge
The university managed grants and other forms of funding through resourced data collection. Some of the data was gathered using platforms that were either difficult to use or access, so the university needed a consolidated process to increase efficiency. Orion ensured that the data would also be housed in one place as the university was previously relying on unstructured sources that led to inconsistencies in data management, data structure and data reporting.
Solution
Orion worked with the university to create a structured data warehouse using an SSAS Tabular data model and developed 6 role-based dashboards with 60 drill-down reports. The platform is now used by 700 university employees, which allows for stable, unbiased and reliable data. By increasing data discovery and regulating data management, Orion created better data security.
Impact
- Reduced data reporting time by consolidating all data into a single platform
- Increased data security, leading to more secure data management
- Provided ability to better predict outcomes using current sources of data
